From Conifer, CO. Currently in 3rd year of medical school at Rocky Vista University. Co-founder of HOLA in 2008. Served as Executive Director before taking on current role as Vice Chairman. “HOLA takes a unique multi tiered approached to global health, addressing many different factors that affect the overall health of the members within the communities we serve.”
“We focus on public health by performing ongoing community assessments to determine the needs of the community, then design outreach programs to address these needs. In an effort to help alleviate people’s immediate health problems, we also provide acute clinical care by working with local physicians and supporting existing programs established by local governments. In addition, we work with local veterinarians to ensure the health of people's livestock and therefore their livelihood, as well as pets to ensure their health and to help prevent the transmission of zoonotic diseases to humans. On top of everything, we also give young volunteers the opportunity of a lifetime, allowing them to experience first-hand the sharp contrast between life and healthcare in a developing country as compared to the United States. The unique approach HOLA takes to providing care and education to communities in need, while working with local physicians, veterinarians, and community leaders makes it a truly special and effective organization.”
