Chipotle Fundraiser Event

A big thanks to Chipotle and everyone who came to support our fundraiser today! Everyone that came had a blast eating and socializing in order to support HOLA. For every person that showed our flyer, Chipotle donated 50% of their sales to the HOLA Foundation. We look forward to working with Chipotle again in the future.

Creating sustainable changes in personal and public health care on a regional or even national scale is a complex and nuanced endeavor. It takes the combined efforts of many people with a variety of backgrounds and skills.

Anyone who is serious about leading the next generation should consider joining HOLA, regardless of their industry. This is where leaders are made. We offer a space for self-driven individuals to find ideas and turn them into realities. Learn new skills in medicine, finance, administration, public speaking, research, and marketing.

Applications are being accepted now for 2015-2016, and interviews will be held in November.  Email the completed application to HOLA's Director of Human Resources, Cassie Timm, at cassie.timm@holafoundation.org.  Please email info@holafoundation.org with any questions regarding HOLA or the application.

May 2015- Mission Trip

We are proud to report that HOLA had another successful and rewarding trip to Nicaragua this May!  HOLA members finally saw their 9 months of hard work and preparation pay off.  With the help of Nicaraguan Physician, Dr. Somarriba, HOLA attended 423 patients in the communities of Las Lomas, El Mojon Sur, Puerto Sandino, Mira Mar and San Ramon.  Additionally with the help of Nicaraguan Veterinarians Dr. Daniel Morales and Dr. Jose Luis Aguirre, Director of Veterinary Operations, Heather Granger, reported that HOLA cared for 621 animals and provided the necessary supplies to perform 38 surgeries - setting our highest record yet!  HOLA also visited the schools of MaryKnoll and Alberto to provide public health seminars to over 1,000 community members including students, teachers and parents.  Thanks to Cascade Designs, HOLA was able to distribute 177 water bottles to Nicaraguan residents who participated in our Public Health discussions and seminars.  Additionally, HOLA would like to thank the outstanding Nicaraguan translators who year-after-year help make our work possible. Lastly, a huge shout out to all of our wonderful members and dedicated directors Philip Vega, Nana Derugina, Ana Kelty, Heather Granger, Hayley Petrick, Sloane O'Neil, Kailey O'Connell, and Hannah Tighe who helped make this years trip a success!

Project V.E.T.S.

We are excited to announce that the HOLA Foundation has been accepted by Project V.E.T.S as a recipient organization.  Project V.E.T.S strives to improve the health and welfare of animals around the world by distributing donated equipment/supplies to veterinarian nonprofit organizations.  In the United States and many other industrialized countries, new equipment and technologies become available, and the replaced item is often thrown away.  Project V.E.T.S. works to keep these valuable resources out of the landfill, and instead utilize the equipment and supplies all over the world.  We are thrilled to be working with such a wonderful group, check them out! http://www.projectvets.org

2015 "Ride for Chacraseca" Biking Event

This Saturday, April 11, HOLA is hosting our annual "Ride for Chacraseca" biking event. Volunteer members will ride their bikes from Boulder to Denver to raise money for our spring mission trip to Chacraseca, Nicaragua. We are still seeking sponsors for this event. If you are interested in helping out or feel like joining us for the ride, simply email us at info@holafoundation.org.

2015 Silent Auction and Dinner

The Silent Auction was a huge success and we are so thankful for everyone who came and showed their support! Also, a huge thanks to Samba Colorado for their wonderful performance and fun dance lesson!

Clinical Training at Rocky Vista University

HOLA members braved the snowy weather for a clinical training at Rocky Vista University in Parker, Colorado. Medical students instructed on how to properly measure pulse and blood pressure as well as important health topics in Nicaragua such as diabetes and hypertension. Members were also shown some of the holistic methods taught at DO schools like Rocky Vista. We are extremely grateful of the Rocky Vista students for taking the time to meet with us and look forward to working with them in the future!

There with Care: Letters from Santa

There with Care is an organization that helps families facing the many burdens that come with critical illnesses. The organization uses their resources to help identify the main stresses on a family in these situations and try to help take what is heavy off their plate. Every family is unique in their struggle and There with Care does their best to tailor their efforts to support individual families in ways that are best for them.

HOLA is honored to have been able to participate at the Santa Letters with Care event hosted by There with Care. A group of our members helped write letters that go out to hundreds of children in need during the holiday season.  Check out some of the pictures below!
